With graduate degrees in political science - and with some musical talent, Dorothy has been a professor, worship leader, performing musician, and organizational coach. And as a constructive editor, she has contributed to foreign policy analysis, congressional and court testimony, as well as books on foreign policy, leadership, community impact, and personal faith. In the year 2020, Dorothy again recognized gaps in prevailing societal perspectives and was struck with an urgency to fill those gaps for anyone who would listen, so she founded Freedom Academy with Dorothy to prepare others for controversial but crucial conversations in an era of fear and passionate polarization, to teach others what was no longer being spoken about at the dinner table: Why Americans should embrace liberty – and how to live according to principles instead of as slaves to their passions. Dorothy is at heart a political philosopher and lover of liberty who consciously and intentionally integrates her biblical worldview into every facet of her life as she is first and foremost a follower of Christ and a daughter of the Most High King. George Barna has filled executive roles in politics, marketing, advertising, media development, research and ministry. He founded the Barna Research Group in 1984 (now The Barna Group) and helped it become a leading marketing research firm focused on the intersection of faith and culture before selling it in 2009. Through the Barna Group, George has served several hundred parachurch ministries, thousands of Christian churches, and many other non-profit and for-profit organizations as well as the U.S. military. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the American Culture and Faith Institute (a division of United in Purpose), and is President of Metaformation, a faith development organization. Barna has written more than 50 books, mostly addressing cultural trends, leadership, spiritual development, and church dynamics. They include New York Times bestsellers and several award-winning books. His works have been translated into more than a dozen foreign languages. He has sold more books based on survey research related to matters of faith than any author in American history. His work is frequently cited as an authoritative source by the media. Barna has been hailed as “the most quoted person in the Christian Church today” and has been named by various media as one of the nation’s most influential Christian leaders. After attending high school and college together, George and his wife Nancy married in 1978. They have three adopted daughters and one grandchild, live on the central California coast, and attend Mission Church in Ventura.
