Then in the second hour, Kerby welcomes Texas Senator Tan Parker into the studio. They'll be talking about Criminal Justice and the two new bills introduced by the Senator as the 88th Texas Legislature opened. He has served as adjunct professor at Seattle Pacific University, visiting instructor in apologetics for Westminster Theological Seminary, and instructor at the University of Oregon . Tan Parker is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives who has the privilege of representing one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. Since taking office in 2007, Tan has been recognized as a proven champion for economic development, job creation, strengthening border security, promoting fiscally responsible government spending, reducing tax burdens, promoting a culture of life and enacting greater public safety measures, and for his advocacy for the protection of children and vulnerable populations as well as being an early leader in the fight against human trafficking. Tan’s legislative tenure has encompassed numerous leadership roles. In addition to serving as a lawmaker, Tan is a successful businessman and a passionate advocate for community. Tan began his involvement in the Republican Party as a youth and was influenced by the great leaders he interacted with such as President Ronald Reagan, President George H.W. Bush, Majority Leader Dick Armey, and Tex Lezar, who orchestrated the original version of Making Government Work. Tan is a graduate of the University of Dallas and the London School of Economics. He and his wife of 25 years, Beth, reside in Flower Mound, Texas with their daughters, Lauren and Ashley.
