John J. Dwyer is the author of seven books and is a three-time winner of the Fort Worth-based national Will Rogers Medallion Award literary contest. He has served as Adjunct Professor of History and Ethics at Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma City since 2006. From 2002-2006, he was History Chair at Coram Deo Academy, near Dallas. From 1992-2000, he published The Dallas/Fort Worth Heritage, one of the largest Christian newspapers in America, which featured regular columns by Point of View host Kerby Anderson. He is the author of the non-fiction historical narrative The Oklahomans: The Story of Oklahoma and Its People, Vol. 1 (Ancient-Statehood). Will Rogers Medallion Award Executive Director Charles Williams declared The Oklahomans, “One of the best books we’ve ever seen in any category of our competition. It won in the most competitive category of this year’s contest.” Volume 2 (World War I‐Present) releases in November 2020. Also, the Civil War history, The War Between the States: America’s Uncivil War, now in its fourth edition. And, the historical novels Stonewall, Robert E. Lee, and Shortgrass, and the novel When the Bluebonnets Come. Mustang, John’s new World War II epic of American aviators, released Memorial Day weekend. John is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and Dallas Theological Seminary. He and his wife Grace have been married thirty-one years. They have one daughter and one grandson, and live in Oklahoma. They are active members of their church, and serve in a variety of teaching, mission, and other ministry roles.
