Attorney, author, teacher, pastor and story teller, Mark Lanier, graduated Texas Tech University School of Law in 1984. Mark is the Founder of The Lanier Law Firm with offices in Houston, New York, and Los Angeles, Mark has earned international recognition setting record verdicts in courtrooms throughout the United States. Armed with an undergraduate degree in Biblical Languages from Lipscomb University, Mark has taught a life group class at Champion Forest Baptist Church (attendance of over 600 and viewed live streamed by thousands), for over 18 years. His style is very similar to the way he conducts his trials. His unique ability for informed and logical insight, honed by seeking truth in today’s justice system, makes for remarkable theological exposition. Mark’s courtroom experience is significant with nearly $20 billion in verdicts. Mark was twice named National Trial Lawyers Association’s Trial Lawyer of the Year and was further inducted into their Hall of Fame. He was also honored as The National Law Journal’s Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year. The American Association of Justice honored Mark with their Lifetime Achievement Award. Holding three honorary doctorates, he was bestowed the Ambassador of Peace award by the Guatemalan government. Mark received the Distinguished Alumnus award from the Texas Tech University School of Law and from Texas Tech University. He founded the Lanier Theological Library; one of the nation’s largest theological collections. Mark is published in legal and theological arenas and has four books, numerous articles and two movies among his works.

David Zahl is the founder and director of Mockingbird Ministries, editor-in-chief of the Mockingbird website (www.mbird.com), and co-host of The Mockingcast. He and his family live in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he also serves on the staff of Christ Episcopal Church, supervising their adult education and ministry to college students. Zahl is the author of A Mess of Help: From the Crucified Soul of Rock N’ Roll and coauthor of Law and Gospel: A Theology for Sinners (and Saints). His most recent book, Seculosity: How Career, Parenting, Technlogy, Food, Politics, and Romance Became Our New Religion and What To Do About It, appeared in 2019 from Fortress Press. His writing has been featured in The Washington Post, Christianity Today, and The Guardian, among other venues. David is a licensed lay preacher in the Episcopal diocese of Virginia.
