A former atheist who came to faith, Mary Jo Sharp has experienced two worlds of American culture: the post-Christian culture of the Pacific Northwest and the evangelical culture of the Bible Belt. She first encountered apologetics in her own spiritual search while seeking answers. Mary Jo is now an assistant professor of apologetics at Houston Baptist University and the founder and director of Confident Christianity Apologetics Ministry. She has been featured in Christianity Today’s cover story “The Unexpected Defenders” and is an international speaker on apologetics, focusing on love and logic to uncover truth. She lives with her husband and family in Portland, Oregon.

DeMint represented South Carolina in the U.S. House (1999-2005) and U.S. Senate (2005-2013). Known for policy entrepreneurship, he authored leading conservative reforms to health care, education, taxes, and entitlements. DeMint garnered national acclaim from conservatives for leading efforts to ban congressional earmarks, which had been the source of billions of dollars of wasteful spending for decades and led to corruption and widespread abuse. He also successfully led the fight to stop the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill in 2007. He is the Founder of the Senate Conservatives Fund, which played a major role in the election of many of the Senate’s leading conservatives like Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Ron Johnson, Pat Toomey, Ben Sasse, and Tom Cotton. He also served as the President of The Heritage Foundation for four years, taking the organization to new heights of influence. Under DeMint’s direction, Heritage played a major role in the Trump transition, with the policy series “Mandate for Leadership” used as the basis for the President’s first budget and numerous other administration reforms. Rachel Bovard, an experienced hand on Capitol Hill, is director of policy services for The Heritage Foundation. In this role, she works to provide members of Congress with the think tank’s policy recommendations, in-depth analyses, and latest conservative solutions. Before joining Heritage, Bovard was policy director for the Senate Steering Committee, a caucus of conservative senators, under the successive chairmanships of Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah. Bovard’s succession of staff posts over nine years in the Senate and House of Representatives include serving as legislative director to Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and as senior legislative assistant to Rep. Donald Manzullo, R-Ill., and Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas. In 2013, she was named to National Journal’s list of “25 Most Influential Women in Washington Under 35.” She is a former intern at The Heritage Foundation. Bovard, who was born and grew up in Rochester, N.Y., received her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in history and political science at Grove City College in 2006.
