Heather Mac Donald is the Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute and author of the new book, The War on Cops. She is also a contributing editor of City Journal where her work has covered a wide range of topics, including policing and “racial” profiling, criminal justice reform, race relations, higher education, immigration, among others. Heather Mac Donald is a frequent media guest on Fox News Channel, CNN, and other national television and radio programs. Her writings have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, New York Times, The New Republic, Partisan Review, The New Criterion, Marshall Project, Public Interest, and other outlets. A non-practicing lawyer, Mac Donald clerked for the Honorable Stephen Reinhardt, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and was an attorney-advisor in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and a volunteer with the Natural Resources Defense Council. Mac Donald has testified before numerous U.S. House and Senate Committees. Mac Donald holds a B.A. in English from Yale University, graduating with a Mellon Fellowship to Cambridge University, where she earned an M.A. in English and studied in Italy through a Clare College study grant. She holds a J.D. from Stanford University Law School.
