July 13 - 2020
Frederick Douglass was one of America’s greatest orators, abolitionists, social reformers, and statesmen. After escaping from slavery in Maryland, he became a national leader of the abolitionist movement. On July 5, 1852, he delivered the address, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” A statue of Douglass was eventually erected in Rochester, New York, where he lived and worked for twenty-five years. On the 168th anniversary of his most famous speech, the statue was torn from its base and damaged. Source: What does the Bible say about removing statues? - Denison Forum
