Stop Vaccine Passports: Leaders Launch Initiative Invite the Public to Watch a Webcast:“Vaccine Passports – Gateway to Mass Surveillance” and Sign a Petitionto Protect our Freedom WASHINGTON, D.C.— Dozens of leaders have released an Open Letter urging President Biden and the congressional leadership respectively to issue an Executive Order and promote federal legislation banning “Vaccine Passports.” According to tech experts, the digital platform used by Vaccine Passports is the same platform as that used by the Chinese “Social Credit System.” It is, therefore, appropriate for the Stop Vaccine Passports initiative to launch on July 1, 2021, the 100^thanniversary of the founding of the brutal and lawless Chinese Communist Party. The Open Letter, found on the new StopVaxPassports.org website, describes how the CCP has instituted a “Social Credit System” that gives it totalitarian control over everyone in China. This system, enabled by sophisticated surveillance technology, tracks and integrates, for example, the following aspects of every individual: medical history, social media posts, bank accounts, credit cards, shopping history, internet search history, residence, place of employment, criminal history, facial and gait recognition, network of relationships, religious activities, participation (or the lack thereof) in the “Xi-Jinping thought” app, and real-time physical location. People with a low social credit score may be kept from travel and borrowing money. They may be fired from their jobs, and unable to rent an apartment or get their children into school. Those with very low scores, such as political and religious dissidents, can be cut off from the use of a credit card to buy food and other necessities – a potentially catastrophic sanction in China’s increasingly cashless society. Worse yet, dissidents can be located, and potentially disappeared, anywhere in China within minutes, along with their networks of relationships. Reggie Littlejohn, President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers and one of the drafters of the Open Letter, stated, “Most people think that Vaccine Passports are the digital equivalent of the yellow vaccine cards long used in international travel – just a convenient way to show that you are vaccinated. We are sounding the alarm that these digital passports can easily be integrated with other functionality. In the wrong hands, they can become instruments of mass surveillance and repression, as with China’s Social Credit System.” Irrespective of one’s opinion about the various Covid-19 vaccines, such a digital passport system is clearly antithetical to the foundational principles of this country and must not be allowed to take root here.
