Dr. Albert Mohler

President — Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

Dr. R. Albert Mohler Jr. is president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, which is one of the largest seminaries in the world. He is also the Joseph Emerson Brown Professor of Christian Theology at Southern Seminary, and author of a number of books, including his newest, "We Cannot Be Silent." A theologian and ordained minister, both TIME and Christianity Today have recognized Dr. Mohler as a leader among American evangelicals. He can be heard daily on “The Briefing,” a podcast which analyzes news and events from a Christian Worldview, and “Thinking in Public,” a series of conversations with the day’s leading thinkers. Dr. Mohler also writes a popular blog and a regular commentary on moral, cultural and theological issues. He has been quoted in the nation’s leading newspapers, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today, to name a few, and has appeared on such national news programs as CNN’s “Larry King Live,” NBC’s “Today Show” and “Dateline NBC,” ABC’s “Good Morning America,” “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer” on PBS, MSNBC’s “Scarborough Country” and Fox’s “The O’Reilly Factor.” Originally from Lakeland, Florida, Dr. Mohler was a Faculty Scholar at Florida Atlantic University before receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He holds a master of divinity degree and a doctor of philosophy (in systematic and historical theology) from Southern Seminary. He has pursued additional study at the St. Meinrad School of Theology and has done research at University of Oxford (England).
