Dr. S. Joshua Swamidass MD PhD is an Associate Professor in Laboratory and Genomic Medicine at Washington University in Saint Louis. Dr. Swamidass' group is funded by the NIH to study reactive metabolites with machine learning. This effort is designed to identify the mechanism by which new drugs could be bioactivated so as to cause idiosyncratic hypersensitivity-driven drug reactions, an ongoing challenge in drug development. Swamidass also communicates science to the public at Peaceful Science. He recently authored an OpEd in the Wall Street Journal discussing "Artificial Intelligence: An Evangelical Statement of Principles."
