Leftism and Lying

Since it’s April first, you might conclude that the Democratic party is engaged in an elaborate April Fool’s joke. But it appears that the leadership is serious. The latest polls show that a majority (61%) of American voters agree that President Biden and Democrats are “out of touch with hardworking Americans” and “have been so focused on catering to the far-left wing of the party.” The poll also found that a majority of voters (54%) explicitly say they wanted Biden and Democrats to move closer to the center and embrace more moderate policies versus embracing more liberal policies. An even higher percentage (56%) of independents selected that option on the poll. These are not the percentages you would like to see moving into the mid-term elections. But it gets worse. American voters don’t like the leftism of the party, but they also don’t like the lying. Charles Cooke talks about the “Diminishing Return of the Democrats’ Lies.” He has a long list. The leaders of the Democratic party are lying about inflation (it wasn’t going to happen, it’s transitory, and then it is due to the war in Ukraine). They are lying about gas prices, “for which Joe Biden is or isn’t responsible depending on the day you ask them, and which have inspired the most incoherent set of policy answers in recent memory.” And you can add the lying about Afghanistan. Charles Cooke acknowledges that President Biden may not be responsible for everything wrong in America, but we would be better served by a president and the Democratic party leadership with more “modesty, clarity, and candor.” He concludes: “Voters may tolerate a flimflam artist when times are good, but as the recent election shows, they sour swiftly when trouble rears its head.” It is becoming more obvious each day that the midterm elections will be difficult for Democratic candidates. viewpoints new web version
