Ali Alfattal, PhD

Activist — Corruption in the Middle East

Ali Alfattal received his Ph.D. In Chemical Engineering from the University of Baghdad. He was a Fellow in the Economics of Energy from the University of Birmingham, and a professional Project Manager/Sr. Process Engineer for Oil and Gas projects for over 16 years. He has worked with many companies in this sector, such as Shell, ENI Baker Hughes-GE, Foster Wheeler, and many others. He was an activist in Baghdad for anti-corruption, human rights, women’s rights, and children’s rights for the period 2005-2016. During this period, he cooperated with U.S. Forces, the U.S. Corps of Engineers, and GRD, and was a liaison officer and a member of the EFC -CJ 9. Before him, his father joined efforts with the U.S. forces to fight Iraqi oil corruption that was financing terrorist activities, Because of this, his father, Hussain Alfattal (an international oil expert and a general manager to an oil company) was assassinated in November 2004. Ali has carried on with his father’s work.
