James S. Robbins, PhD., is a senior fellow for national security affairs at the American Foreign Policy Council, a commentary writer for USA Today, and a member of the advisory board to the National Civil War Museum. Previously he was an awardwinning editorial writer at the Washington Times, a professor at the National Defense University, and special assistant in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He holds a doctorate from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and has authored other books including The Real Custer: From Boy General to Tragic Hero.
